Expedition life
Each expedition is unique, but most are made up of the following four phases:
Phase 1 > Acclimatization
The acclimatization phase enables teams to adjust to a new climate, culture and altitude; and to practice working as a team.
Phase 2 > The Trek
Teams typically complete at least one trek, enabling them to travel off the tourist path and into authentic, dynamic parts of the expedition country. This trek should be achievable for the whole team while still providing a challenge.
Phase 3 > Community Service Project
All teams will complete a useful service project within the community or for a local organization. The service phase is an opportunity to live and work alongside local people and engage in valuable cultural exchange - for many students, this is their favorite part of their expedition!
Phase 4 > Rest and Reflection
This is a chance for teams to unwind, relax and reflect on their many accomplishments at the end of the trek and project phases. Many teams elect to do optional activities such as white-water rafting, sight-seeing, going on safari, or simply relaxing on the beach.
