Prior to departure
• Rigorous training for teachers, students and staff
• Thorough risk assessments carried out prior to each expedition
• Medical advice from a world expert in expedition medicine
• Maintaining close working relationships with Embassies in each country
• Following State Department advice
 
In the field
• Highly trained, qualified Expedition Leaders
• Minimum of 1: 8 ratio of adult to students
• Expert local knowledge and support from WCE in-country agents
• Comprehensive first aid kits for every team
• State-of-the-art satellite communications equipment including satellite phones and satellite beacons
 
Behind the scenes
• 24-hour Operations Center in London to manage incidents ranging from illness, injury and repatriation to lost passports and baggage      
• Comprehensive multimillion dollar insurance coverage for each participant - includes medical expenses, repatriation and evacuation
• International network of medical support centers through First Assist 
• Supported by Royal & Sun Alliance - an international medical assistance agency with access to a network of medical support centers to advise on recommended hospitals and offer medical assistance
• Rapid Response Team
• Ability to wire money anywhere in the world from our Operations Center
• Ability to divert expeditions up to the time of departure
